A small group of engineers founded the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC) as a non-profit association when the complexity of HVAC systems began to increase in the 1960s. This is when they made the guiding principles of the association around providing objectivity, integrity and technical expertise while maintaining independence and having strict membership requirements to uphold these values. AABC also developed the first comprehensive industry standards for test and balance.
The CAABC was founded in 1972 and adheres to the same values, integrity and operates under the same guidelines as the AABC. The CAABC has its own Board of Directors and represents 1 board member under the AABC.
